Vanessa Verrina defends PhD thesis

On April 6th Vanessa Verrina successfully defended her thesis ‘Laser-induced ultrasound for the detection of buried micro- and nano-structures’ at the University of Amsterdam. Verrina did her doctoral research in the Light-Matter Interaction group with Paul Planken en Stefan Witte as promotors. The defense took place online.

In her thesis Verrina shows how laser-induced ultrasound can be used to detect micro- and nano-structures, usually gratings buried underneath optically opaque layers, which is a big challenge for the semiconductor industry in wafer alignment.
