About ARCNL

ARCNL launches new website

On November 4, ARCNL launched a new and improved institute website. The website has been redesigned with the needs and interests of visitors in mind, allowing us to better showcase ARCNL’s research and community.

Time for an update

After 10 years, the ARCNL website was ready for an update – there were a number of ways in which the site could be improved for accessibility, maintainability, and visual presentation, such that it would be easier to navigate and relevant information easier for visitors to find.

The development of the new website started with an important principle: our website should reflect the same level of quality and professionalism as our research. From there, we asked a fundamental question: what are our visitors looking for?

Renovating our digital home

Our new website puts our research and the people who make it possible at the forefront, organized in a way that helps visitors find the information they’re looking for. Our biggest consideration was that different visitors have different needs, depending in part on their familiarity with our research topics.

The homepage, About us and Careers pages, for example, are designed to be engaging and accessible to a broad range of people, providing a high-level introduction to ARCNL and our research. Meanwhile, those with deeper scientific knowledge can find more technical details on individual research groups’ pages.

“With this new website we will be able to better showcase ARCNL’s cutting-edge research and the amazing scientists who make it happen,” says Jeske Dioquino, communications officer at ARCNL. “It’s like being able to reorganize and redecorate a home, so that the interior better reflects the people who live there.”

A sweet celebration

To celebrate the launch of our new website, we held a special announcement with festive treats. This launch marks a new chapter in how ARCNL presents itself to the outside world, and we hope that this update makes learning about and connecting with our institute easier and more enjoyable.

The updated website has been a collaborative effort between our Communications team, the ICT department, and digital agency Mediabirds. Many of the photos featured on the website were taken by Floris Krelage.
